Woodland (T-2) pleased, frustrated by final round
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. He couldnt catch up to Rickie Fowler, but Gary Woodland still continued an impressive season with his final-round rally at the Honda Classic.Woodland started the day six shots off the lead, but he raced up the standings with four birdies over his first 13 holes, the last of which drew him within one shot of Fowler. But he didnt make another birdie from there, and any title aspirations evaporated with a three-putt on No. 17 and a watery approach on the closing hole.Frustrating because I gave myself a lot of chances, Woodland said. I just didnt get anything to go in on 14, 15, 16, 17. I hit good putts, and sometimes they go in and sometimes they dont.

A final-round 69 left Woodland at 8 under, tied for second alongside Morgan Hoffmann and ultimately four shots behind Fowler. The close call extends his victory drought on Tour that dates back to the 2013 Barracuda Championship. But it also continues Woodlands recent run of success that dates back to a runner-up finish at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in November and includes a T-5 finish earlier this month at Pebble Beach.Obviously Im happy with the way Im playing, Woodland said. Ive been playing good for a while now. Keep knocking on the door and well bust through soon.
