This weekend's PNC Father/Son Challenge presents another opportunity for Jack Nicklaus to step back inside the ropes.The 78-year-old headlines the field this week at Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., where he'll team with his grandson, G.T. While the elder Nicklaus boasts the haul of 18 major titles, it's G.T. who has authored the most recent highlight after holing a memorable wedge shot during the Par-3 Contest at this year's Masters.
Nicklaus is one of 11 members of the World Golf Hall of Fame who will be teeing it up in the 20-team event this week, a list that also includes Greg Norman, Lee Trevino, Sir Nick Faldo and recent inductee Retief Goosen. Perhaps the most decorated duo will be the 2012 champs, as Davis Love III teams with his son, Dru, who made six starts on the PGA Tour in 2018.Three players will make their tournament debut, as David Toms joins son Carter and former Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke plays with son Tyrone. Another former Ryder Cup captain, Jim Furyk, will play for the first time as he joins his father, Mike, in one of two teams where the son is the PGA Tour veteran. The other such combo is Matt Kuchar and his dad, Peter. One team will be co-ed as Bernhard Langer tees it up alongside his daughter, Jackie.Other notable duos include John Daly with his son, Little John, Vijay and Qass Singh, David and Brady Duval, Greg Norman (Sr. and Jr.) and the combo of Stewart and Connor Cink, who won back in 2013. The field will also include Tom Kite, Lee Janzen, Jerry Pate, Nick Price and Mark O'Meara.In order to qualify for the 36-hole scramble event, a player must have won either a major championship or The Players and his partner must not have a PGA Tour card.After debuting last year at the PNC Father/Son Challenge, Jack Nicklaus' grandson GT is ready to team up again with his 18-time-major-winning grandfather.
