Scott defending title in only second start of year

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. Adam Scott will defend his title at the Honda Classic this week feeling fresher than most players in the field. Its just Scotts second start of the year.He made his 2017 debut tying for 11th last week at the Genesis Open.Scott, 36, said the late start serves his goals better. If you're looking at the FedEx Cup list right now, I'm not in great shape, Scott said. But a big focus for me, obviously, is the majors. I think I'll be very fresh when I get to Augusta with only three more events before that.
The Honda Classic: Articles, photos and videos
Theres an important stretch of June through August, as well, which is months away, and a lot of golf before we get there, and I want to make sure I'm fresh for that. For me, taking that significant break away is important, so that I can stay fresh. I don't know whether that means I'm old, and not that fresh anymore, but I think it's important for me to do that. Its got some results in the past.Scott won the Masters in 2013. Hes had six top 10s in majors since.
