Masters 2017: Augusta National by the numbers

The 2017 Masters is officially in the books, and Sergio Garcia is finally a major champion at age 37.As Garcia settles in to life in the champions' locker room, take a look back at some of the course stats from this week at Augusta National Golf Club and see where players had scoring opportunities - and where they simply tried to salvage par:
  • The second nine played marginally more difficult than the first, with an average score of +0.119 over par. The first nine played to an average of +0.091 over par.
  • Not surprisingly, the only holes that played under par for the week were the four par-5s: Nos. 2, 8, 13 and 15.
  • The most difficult hole for the week was No. 1, which had more double bogeys or worse (23) than birdies (18).
  • The easiest hole was the par-5 13th, which played -0.370 under par and allowed 128 birdies, more than any other hole, to go along with six eagles.
  • There were 23 eagles made during the week: 11 on the first nine, including seven on No. 2, and 12 on the second nine including Garcia's eagle on No. 15 and Matt Kuchar's final-round ace on No. 16.
  • There were 22 scores of triple bogey or worse during the tournament, with seven such scores on both No. 1 and No. 15 and five on the par-3 12th.
  • The hole that played closest to par was the par-4 14th, which allowed 48 birdies, 45 bogeys and four double bogeys for the week.
  • The most difficult hole on the second nine was No. 11 (+0.373) while the easiest hole on the first nine was No. 2 (-0.329).
