Fisher eyeing good results, Masters berth
AUSTIN, Texas Figuring out the nuances of group play at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play is hard enough, but for Ross Fisher there is even more math to consider this week.Fisher is currently 53rd in the world ranking and could earn a spot in the Masters field in two weeks if he were to move into the top 50 on Mondays list.I knew at the start of the week I needed to, I would say, get through my group stage and hopefully that would be good enough, Fisher said. I put it to the back of my mind. I'm going to go out and play how I've been playing.

Although the official world ranking projections for this weeks event havent been released, based on last years event if Fisher were to advance out of group play but lose in the round of 16 he would still earn enough points to crack the top 50 in the ranking and earn a Masters invitation. On Thursday, Fisher defeated Hideki Matsuyama, 2 and 1, following his Day 1 loss to Louis Oosthuizen. He currently trails Jim Furyk in his group by a half point, but the two will play on Friday. If Fisher beats Furyk and Oosthuizen loses to Matsuyama the Englishman would advance to the round of 16. If Fisher and Oosthuizen both win on Friday, there would be a playoff to determine who advances.
